The photo on the left is me my freshmen year of college, in 2008. The right is me this past Christmas! I only started this journey a little over a year ago, and I’m still a work in progress, but the contrast between these two pictures makes me so proud. I was so miserable, and I felt like I tried everything and nothing worked. Finally I read about clean eating and that started my journey to a healthy lifestyle. People always ask me how I did it. Giving up fast food was one of the best decisions I ever made. I finally found the motivation I needed and what worked for me. I never count calories, I work out 4-6 days a week, I don’t restrict myself to never again eating a cookie. I buy organic foods, I watch my portion sizes, and I do a lot of strength training to build muscle.
My advice to anyone looking to start their own journey to being healthy is to start with wanting to do it for YOURSELF. Find something that works for you, do a ton of research on it, and then commit. Don’t let one slip up derail your progress. Be patient, and find things to love about yourself until one day you realize you love ALL of you. :)
